My photojournalism professor said uploading photos from a camera to a computer is risky, because if the batteries die during transit, the photo files can be corrupted. Also, uploading from the camera to systems without the right drivers is often impossible. Enter the “converter drive.” This inexpensive ($5 at Radio Shack) and useful gadget allows one to take a camera’s memory card, in this case the Multi Media/Secure Digital (MMSD) format, insert it into the converter drive, and plug the drive into a USB port. Bundled with a normally pricey USB extension cable, this thing is practically a giveaway. More complex converter drives are available, if you shoot digital, you should cop one.
